Ana Pastor, on criticism of the moderation of the debate: “I did not expect such a harsh duel”

The journalist Ana Pastor has responded to the criticism that the debate on Monday night between the main candidates for the presidency of the Government has aroused on social networks. “If I had intervened more, it would have become a face to face with me,” she said in an interview for El Món to RAC1.

The presenter admits that “she could have stopped the debate more”, but that “she did not expect such a harsh duel”, neither from the Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, nor from the opposition leader, Alberto Núñez Feijóo. Pastor has also confirmed on Twitter his discomfort with the face-to-face management: “In debates and in interviews it is always difficult to make decisions live. The mistakes – and successes if there are – are mine. Blame the wet grass of the pitch is of no use to anyone”.

Spectators of the face-to-face -also journalists from various media- have criticized the “non-existent” handling of the moderators of the Atresmedia debate, Ana Pastor and Vicente Vallés. For not intervening and for not having verified the data that both opponents poured non-stop.

Hundreds of users have criticized both Atresmedia and the presenter, who runs a medium dedicated to verifying or fact-checkingthat the data of the participants were not contrasted and that the debate was not stopped to denounce a lie.“Where was the incisive Ana Pastor and the fact checking?” Asked one user. “It seems that there is a fairly clear consensus on who has lost the debate: Vicente Vallés and Ana Pastor,” criticized another.

Pastor adds: “I thought that, being between two, the debate would be less acrimonious, but clearly I did not hit the forecast. I have gone over the debate in my head practically all night. Could we have intervened more? Yes. But then it would have been become a face to face with me”.
