In addition, the submarine is described as “experimental” three times in the document. Stuck underwater for several hours
Brian Weed, a former passenger on the Titan, told Insider that the submarine failed on a test dive in 2021 because its thrusters stopped working. The submersible reportedly remained stuck underwater for more than two hours and never reached a depth of more than 100 feet, or about 30 meters.
On June 18, five people died during the final dive of the Titan, which imploded after losing communication with the surface as it approached the wreckage of the Titanic. According to a Spanish expert, the situation experienced by the passengers would have been similar to “a horror movie”, the latter realizing what was happening to them during the fall of the submarine. Several investigations are still underway to try to determine the causes of the tragedy. OceanGate has announced that it will suspend all exploration and commercial operations. Company boss Stockton Rush is among the victims.
