In a recent interview with online Christian ministry founder Sharell Barrera, Dog the Bounty Hunter, whose real name is Duane Chapman, made inflammatory remarks during a homophobic rant. The reality TV star’s comments have sparked intense backlash and controversy.

During the interview, Chapman sat alongside his wife, Francie Frane, as he blamed individuals who do not actively participate in religious activities for what he refers to as “kids changing their sexuality.” He accused them of prioritizing monetary contributions over addressing pressing issues.

“They’re so wacko themselves that where they have brought us all is to the gates of hell. So we have to stop all that, rebuke them,” Chapman voiced his concern, before making the shocking statement: “Jesus was not a sissy…he was not a sissy man.”

Chapman’s declaration drew applause from his wife and Barrera. He concluded by expressing the need for individuals who are willing to stand up against evil and speak the word of God, emphasizing that society does not require “sissy men.”

Moreover, Chapman stated that people in the LGBTQIA+ community “need to be saved.” He specifically mentioned Pride Month and companies like Target, claiming they suffered substantial financial losses as a consequence of supporting LGBTQIA+ causes.

“While I have compassion for people that are lost like that, they need to be saved,” Chapman stated.

Although Chapman mentioned having LGBTQIA+ friends and family members, he argued that their sexual orientation does not align with how God intended humans to be. This is not the first time Chapman has faced criticisms related to his beliefs. In the past, he has been labeled as racist and homophobic by his daughter Bonnie Chapman.

Bonnie accused her father of associating himself with right-wing pastor Greg Locke, known for his hate speech against LGBTQ people. She claimed that her father’s actions and associations have deeply disappointed her, especially considering her involvement in social justice movements, including Black Lives Matter.

Responding to his daughter’s accusations, Chapman dismissed them as misinformation, highlighting that he has openly embraced his LGBTQ family members. However, it is worth noting that Chapman himself faced backlash in 2007 when a leaked phone call revealed him using racial slurs multiple times.

Chapman’s recent homophobic rant has reignited the debate surrounding his controversial history and beliefs. Many critics argue that his statements contribute to discrimination and further marginalize the LGBTQIA+ community.
