Israeli Travellers Safe Amid Monsoon Floods in India, But 217 Remain Missing

Kasol, India – In the wake of the devastating monsoon floods that have hit northern and central India, Israeli travellers have been reported safe and sound in various centres in the region. Despite being cut off from basic amenities like electricity, communication, and water, Israeli nationals have managed to stay safe and are waiting patiently for assistance.

Chabad emissaries and insurance companies have been working diligently to reach out to Israelis in the affected areas. So far, there have been no reports of Israelis being affected by the floods. However, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that 217 Israelis are still listed as missing.

The Israeli travellers in Kasol, Manali, Leh, Delhi, and other villages disconnected by the floods have relayed messages of their safety. An Israeli traveller who left Kasol this morning reassured that all Israelis in the city are safe and are spending their time in cafes, awaiting transportation arrangements.

According to a Chabad emissary in Manali, there are approximately 150 Israeli travellers in the town. Despite the challenges caused by the flood, many of them have found refuge in a warm Israeli home or at the Chabad house. The emissary confirmed that all the travellers they have encountered are safe and in good health.

Reports coming in from the Kaza and Chamba area indicate that the roads are blocked and communication is failing. Nevertheless, Israeli travellers in the vicinity have confirmed their safety. The town north of Kaza also remains dry, as reported by Israeli travellers who managed to establish contact.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has urged the families of the missing Israeli travellers to contact insurance companies and the Foreign Ministry’s situation room for updates. Private organizations formed by the families of the travellers have prepared a list of 217 names of Israelis who have not made contact since the weekend.

Local reports reveal that at least 40 people have lost their lives due to the recent floods in India, emphasizing the seriousness of the situation.

Efforts are ongoing to establish communication and rescue the missing Israeli travellers. The Israeli government and other agencies are working tirelessly to ensure the safety and well-being of their citizens. Updates on the situation will be provided as new information becomes available.
