Twelve people, suspected of being involved in the car-ram attack at the beginning of July on the home of the mayor of L’Haÿ-les-Roses (Val-de-Marne), Vincent Jeanbrun (Les Républicains), were arrested Wednesday July 12, announced the parquet floor of Créteil at the Parisian.

On the night of July 1 to 2, a burning vehicle was thrown at the mayor’s pavilion. His wife, departmental councilor Mélanie Nowak, was present and had injured herself while fleeing with her two young children.

These arrests take place within the framework of the investigation for attempted assassination opened by the parquet floor of Créteil and entrusted to the judicial police. She mobilizes “about forty dedicated investigators”said the prosecution.

Conspiracy

In addition to the assassination attempt, the heads of the investigation were extended to the association of criminals with a view to committing a crime and destruction of property by fire in an organized gang. The public prosecutor of Créteil, Stéphane Hardouin, had reported that the presence of several individuals during the events was “confirmed”.

This violent attack provoked great emotion in the country and the unanimous condemnation of the political class. It occurred when the Paris region and many provincial towns had been the scene for several nights of riots after the death of young Nahel M., killed by a policeman in Nanterre on June 27 during a roadside check.

The investigation of the judicial police will have to establish if there is a link between these two events.
