Since Wednesday morning (12.7.2023), service investigations have been underway after many complaints about a large reptile found in the Kremastis river, in Rhodes.
There are named complaints from Rhodes about an animal that saw its tail and was hiding in reeds in the river and it reminded them of a crocodile.
Another complaint concerns an attack on a motorcycle on a riverside road where, according to the report, an animal while passing by androgynous attacked the back of the two-wheeler and then disappeared into the reeds.
The Region early today mobilized the services to investigate the reports. So since the morning, Firefighters with an echelon of the Forest Service as well as veterinary services have been in the area to see what is happening, but so far nothing has been found.
The scenario may seem funny but we have also seen it happen in Crete with the infamous crocodile “Sifi” that someone had illegally imported into the country and when he grew up he abandoned him in a dam.
Crocodile or not, the services were mobilized according to the deputy regional governor Christos Efstratiou in a communication that Rodosreport had, as there are different reports and the matter must be investigated for the safety of the citizens.
Investigations continue as if it is about such an animal they are usually active at dusk and remain in the water during the day.
