What happened?

The inconvenience occurred on July 10 at 10:30 p.m. When she was transferred to the hospitalization area, she used the IMSS hospital elevator and at that moment a fatal incident occurred with the girl.
According to the testimonies, when the stretcher with the patient entered the elevator, there was a failure and the minor was trapped. Immediately the medical team tried to help and the support of the maintenance and janitor staff was requested.
Due to the severity of the case, it was necessary to wait until the arrival of the firefighters and Civil Protection personnel, who arrived at the scene a few minutes later. With the help of machinery it was possible to open the elevator but unfortunately everything was useless because due to the pressure the patient died.
After the incident became known, the Dr. A.S. Henry Leopard Urena Bogarin, who is an IMSS delegate in Quintana Roo, published a video to make his point of view known. What he mentions is that the hospital is not responsible for what happened but the company in charge of maintaining the elevator.

Within this same case, the Social Security authorities maintain their position in which they assure that they are innocent and now there is a new “guilty”. The IMSS response
Finally, through a statement the authorities of HGZ No. 18 of Playa del Carmen in Quintana Roo announced that the following determinations were made.
The decision has been made to dismiss the officials in charge of upkeep and maintenance of the Hospital, while investigations are carried out and responsibilities are established. An investigation was immediately conducted to establish responsibilities. A criminal complaint was filed by the IMSS Central Legal Officer against the company in charge of maintaining the elevators (SITRAVEM SA de CV), and other persons who are responsible.
Regarding care for the minor’s family:
Emergency measures will be granted for the urgent needs of family members, to cover immediate expenses. The foregoing is without prejudice to the comprehensive reparation of the damage in justice for the minor and the determinations of the authority. Through the Beneficiary Attention Unit, direct attention is being provided to the next of kin and they will continue to be accompanied to clarify the facts and establish the boundaries of responsibilities.
