The head of the Alianza Creemos bench, Senator Henry Montero, warned this Wednesday that the government of the Movimiento al Socialismo (MAS) indebted the country with more than 3,900 million dollars in less than three years, so far in the administration of Luis Arce. He presented a list of 29 credit laws approved in the Legislative Assembly.

“The MAS squandered the millionaire resources from the sale of hydrocarbons in the past decade, during the former government of Evo Morales and his former minister Luis Arce, then the current administration pawned the ‘grandmother’s jewels’ kept in the Central Bank of Bolivia (BCB) and now, in only two years and eight months, it burdens us Bolivians with a debt of 3,917 million dollars, credits acquired by the Government of Arce,” he said.

The legislator argued that the opposition Creemos will not approve the credits requested by the MAS government because there is no transparent management or explanation to the country about the multi-million dollar destination of the loans.

He specified that even to the requests for reports requested by the parliamentarians, the central government responds with evasions or simply hides information.

In the legislator’s list, it can be seen that the resources were allocated to: Support for Vulnerable Populations Affected by Coronavirus, Emergency Social Protection Networks Project due to the COVID-19 Crisis, Contingent Credit Line for Anticyclical Support for the Emergency Generated by COVID-19″.

Likewise, Support for families most vulnerable by COVID[1]19, Unduavi-Chulumani Highway Construction Project, Section 2, Complementary Works Program, National Emergency Program for Employment Generation, Program for Food Sovereignty with Irrigation Technology, 2022 Population and Housing Census Project.

In addition, to the Program to support the Vaccination Plan against COVID-19 and Strengthening of the Health System of the Plurinational State of Bolivia, Program to Strengthen the Statistical System of the Plurinational State of Bolivia, Water and Sanitation Program for Intermediate and Small Cities , among others.

Last Sunday, the Minister of Economy and Finance, Marcelo Montenegro, called on the Legislature to make the pending credits viable so that they can be used for investment and diversification of the country’s economic base.

“We tell the bad assembly members, who sometimes do not want the regions to continue increasing their space for some purpose, exclusively political, to reflect that more important than that particular purpose is the social purpose, the country needs to increase its productive base “, he assured.
