A mother, a resident of La Plata, Argentina, asked her two young children to wait outside the car while she had sex with a guy in the back seat. A video of the two poor children standing outside the car while their mother “celebrates” was circulated online and provoked outrage among viewers who called for punishing the mother. A video taken by a passerby in Pereira Areola Park shows the five-year-old girl looking out the window while her little brother, just two years old, is unable to reach the car window and plays with the handle. Eyewitnesses say they heard the children begging their mother to let them get back in the car, but she ignored them and went on. At one point, they say, the two children tried to open the car door and go back inside – but the doors were locked.

Following reports from passers-by, police arrived at the scene and arrested the couple. The media reports that the man was not the children’s father and that the 28-year-old mother had only known him a few days before. The plaintiff in the couple’s case, Gabriella Matteo, noted that the man is not exempt from liability and will be charged with abandoning a minor along with the children’s mother. Meteo noted that the couple may face additional charges, such as vandalizing minors and even sexual abuse. The plaintiff added that the two children were transferred to the care of the authorities to protect their “physical and mental integrity” and that their health was in good condition.
