Lisa Marie Presley, the only daughter of Elvis and Priscilla Presley, died on January 12 at the age of 54. The County of Los Angeles Medical Examiner’s office has revealed that the cause of her death was a small bowel obstruction.
According to the autopsy report, Presley had been experiencing stomach pain earlier in the day. It was determined that she had developed a complication from a bariatric surgery procedure she had undergone in the past. Bariatric surgery is often performed when other weight loss methods have not been successful or if the patient has a serious medical condition.
In January, Presley was transported to a hospital after sheriff’s deputies responded to a call of her not breathing at her home in Calabasas. Lieutenant Zeko of the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s Department confirmed that officers arrived at the scene and began rendering aid before transporting her to the hospital.
Presley was not only known as the daughter of the legendary Elvis Presley but also had a successful career as a singer-songwriter. She leaves behind her oldest daughter, Riley Keough, and twins Harper and Finley. Presley’s son, Benjamin Keough, tragically died by suicide in 2020.
The Presley family recently reached a settlement in Lisa Marie’s estate, with Riley being named as the beneficiary. Priscilla Presley, Lisa Marie’s mother, had challenged an amendment made by her daughter in 2016 that replaced her as a beneficiary with her children. However, the family has now resolved any confusion and are pleased with the resolution.
