The drought will cost more than 430 million euros to the Agrarian insurance

Agroseguro paid 47.1 million euros yesterday to insured producers of dryland arable crops (winter cereal, legumes and rapeseed) for the claims registered during the last campaign, mainly due to the drought. After the payment made last week, the 158.9 million subscriberss and during the next few weeks Agroseguro will continue to indemnify claims in dryland arable crops.

In this season, the total estimate of indemnities for winter cereal, legumes and rapeseed as a result of the drought is above the €430 millionwhich is the largest disaster ever recorded.

The damaged area reaches 2 million hectares, adding the damages caused by the drought and by the rest of the risks covered by the agricultural insurance. Agroseguro maintains its commitment to meet the average payment term in recent years, which is 30 days after the final appraisal of the claim.

7 million to cherry producers in Aragon and Extremadura

In addition, Agroseguro paid yesterday 6.9 million for the damages registered in the current cherry campaign. In the case of Extremadura, where 91% of the insured producers in the current campaign have suffered an accident, a first payment of 3.4 million will be made today. For their part, in Aragon they receive 2.8 million for claims in the main producing areas.

Another 8.5 million euros were also paid yesterday to producers insured in other lines of insurance: fruit trees, vegetables or livestock insurance.
