The provincial branch of the National Association of the Deaf of Cuba (Ansoc) convenes the summer workshop The Deaf Community and its natural language, which will begin on July 17 at 9 in the morning.
The course aims to promote basic communication skills of the Cuban Sign Language (LSC) and lasts 10 days.
As reported by the Department of Deaf Cultural Identity, interested persons have the right to enroll without age limit and registration is open until Friday, July 14.
From 9 in the morning to noon you can establish contact through the telephone numbers 49 36 66 92 and 49 36 75 12, or go to the Ansoc headquarters, located at calle 33 # 4406 (interior), between 44 and 46 , Artemis.
Each group will consist of no more than 30 students. The workshop constitutes a space of vital importance in order to sensitize a greater number of people to collaborate with the elimination of possible communication barriers and facilitate social inclusion.
The LSC is the main symbol of cultural identity of the deaf community in Cuba, it has its own linguistic-grammatical, sociocultural and didactic values, like the rest of the sign languages of the world. Its learning occurs both as a first and as a second language: in the first case for deaf people and, in the second, for hearing people.
