On July 8, 2023, in the afternoon, the police received a report that a wallet had been stolen from a small shop in Kistelek. The victim told the investigators that during the morning shopping, he left his wallet unattended for a few seconds, which contained more than HUF 200,000 in addition to personal documents, and the thief probably took it then. During the data collection, the district commissioner recognized the perpetrator from the security camera footage, who was produced within hours after the identification. During the interrogation of the local man as a suspect, he said that he had indeed hidden a wallet in the store, but not with the intention of misappropriating it, but because he thought it was his – the wallet only differed from his own in size and color.
An investigation into the crime of theft was launched at the Kistelek Police Station.
