The traditional concert at the foot of the Eiffel Tower is celebrating its tenth anniversary, the perfect prelude to the big fireworks display in the capital.

For all classical music lovers, the concert not to be missed on this national holiday will take place at the foot of the Eiffel Tower. From 9 p.m., distinguished guests will be legion on the Champ-de-Mars stage for this free event which attracts several thousand people each year.

The set includes some French sizes like the soprano Marie-Laure Garnierlyrical artist revelation of the Victoire de la Musique 2021, Stephanie d’Oustractalented Breton mezzo-soprano, or Ludovic Tézier, bass baritone, twice voted lyrical artist of the year at the Victoires de la Musique (2006 and 2013). For foreign virtuosos, it is the South African soprano Pretty Yende and the Lebanese soprano Ermonela Jaho who are summoned. German tenor Jonas Kaufmannannounced, withdrew, just as he canceled his engagements in Aix, suffering from new health problems.

They will be accompanied by the Orchester national de France, the choir and the orchestra of Radio France, under the direction of Cristian Macelaru. Two exceptional soloists will also be on the programme: the Russian pianist Daniil Trifonov and the Norwegian violinist Wild Frang. For those who cannot be present, the concert will be broadcast live on France 2 and France Inter.

An edition under the sign of fraternity

This year 2023 will mark the end of a cycle in honor of the values ​​of the Republic. After freedom in 2021 and equality in 2022, the theme of the concert will be fraternity.

The repertoire will be classic and varied with the finale of the Symphony No. 9 of Ludwig Van Beethoven, l’Ave verum corpus of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart or the Hungarian March of The Damnation of Faust d’Hector Berlioz. After the traditional Marseillaise which will close the concert, a spectacular fireworks display lasting almost thirty minutes will light up the Parisian sky.
