Breaking News: Lisa Marie Presley’s Death Linked to Complications from Bariatric Surgery
Los Angeles – Lisa Marie Presley, singer, songwriter, and daughter of Elvis Presley, tragically passed away on January 12 at the age of 54. Authorities have now officially confirmed that her cause of death was complications arising from bariatric surgery she had undergone several years ago.
The Los Angeles county medical examiner-coroner’s office ruled out foul play and deemed Presley’s death to be natural, resulting from the effects of a small bowel obstruction. Details about the cause of her death were revealed in an autopsy report released on Thursday, shedding light on the circumstances surrounding her untimely demise.
According to the report, the specified complications were associated with bariatric surgery, a weight loss procedure commonly opted for when other methods fail or when patients have serious medical conditions. The Mayo Clinic acknowledges this as a known risk of the surgery.
Paramedics responding to a 911 call transported Presley to a Los Angeles hospital after she suffered cardiac arrest at her home. At the time, the exact cause of her medical emergency was unknown. However, the autopsy report mentioned that Presley had been experiencing stomach pain earlier that day.
A funeral was held for Presley on January 22 at Graceland, the iconic mansion where she spent her childhood with her father. Graceland has since turned into a museum and a place of pilgrimage for Elvis fans.
Presley left behind three daughters: 34-year-old actor Riley Keough, and 15-year-old twins, Harper and Finley Lockwood. Sadly, her son, Benjamin Keough, passed away in 2020.

Days after the funeral, Presley’s mother, Priscilla Presley, contested a 2016 amendment to Lisa Marie’s living trust.
