The Bank of Russia will oblige insurers to disclose information about intermediaries

by time news

The Bank of Russia is systematically reducing risks for consumers in financial and insurance transactions. Now the regulator intends to establish uniform requirements for the procedure for disclosing information about intermediaries by insurers – they will be posted on the website of the insurance company as a separate file. The corresponding draft directive, developed by the Central Bank, prescribes a clear procedure for posting information that will allow the consumer to find information about an insurance agent or broker on the insurer’s website using any known data: full name, name, TIN, contract number, domain name or intermediary website. “This approach will make it easier for consumers to check the legality of an insurance intermediary,” the Central Bank said.

The need to publish data on agents and brokers with whom the insurance company cooperates is envisaged even today. However, as the regulator notes, to obtain it, an agency agreement number is often required, which is not known to the consumer. So, in practice, this rule is not met.
