No less than 1,670 people gathered in Férel (Morbihan), Friday. Participants await validation from the Guinness World Records.

Ferel in history. The small village of Morbihan, which is home to 3,150 souls, attempted the world record for the largest queue on Friday July 14. For this, 1,670 people gathered in the town center, and prepared for a two-kilometre walk, their hands firmly on the shoulders of their front neighbor, says West France. The only mystery remaining: the Guinness validates this record, which had not yet been entered in the sacrosanct book.

“We were looking for an idea to bring together as many people as possible and put Férel in the spotlight,” says Landry Tribailler, president of the Parents’ Association (Apel), who organized the event. He is delighted: “It’s huge to attract so many people. […] People are only there for this one-to-one queue. The former president, Alexandre Anezo, pink shirt on his back and sequined hat on his head, is the leader of this single file, which will have experienced some difficulties: those who go too fast, those who slow down, those who drop their shoulders… But the captain of the ship will have managed to stay the course.

While waiting for the verdict of Guinness, Alexandre Anezo is already happy with the result: an afternoon of laughter, which will remain in the memory of all the generations present. And which will have made it possible to talk about the village, the primary objective of the event.

It therefore remains to be seen whether Férel will join the largest caterpillar in the world (in Rouen, during the Armada), in the list of very French records. And the village could well try to go for the Norman record next year: it was the first objective, before the organizers entrenched themselves in single file: “We realized that it would be difficult to reach 3,900 people for a first edition”, confided the organizer to echo.
