Parliament Members Submit Proposal for Investigative Committee on Enforcement System’s Policy Towards Demonstrations
Opponents of Legal Reform Accused of Engaging in Illegal Activities
Members of the Knesset, namely Zvi Sukkot, Boaz Bismut, Yitzhak Pindros, and Yitzhak Kreuzer, have submitted a proposal to the parliamentary agenda regarding the establishment of an investigative committee. This committee aims to examine the policy of the enforcement system towards demonstrations against the legal reform.
In a strongly-worded letter addressed to Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana, the MKs expressed their concerns about the recent demonstrations opposing the legal reform. They highlighted that while these protests initially begin within the boundaries of the law, they often escalate into illegal activities, such as blocking roads and intersections, vandalizing property, and even inciting riots.
The proposal will be discussed by the Knesset presidency on the forthcoming Monday. If approved, a plenary vote will take place on Wednesday to determine the establishment of the investigation committee.
