An 11-year-old boy was fatally shot during a Military Police patrol in Maricá, in the metropolitan region of Rio de Janeiro, this Wednesday morning.
According to the police force, the victim was shot during a shootout between the agents and some criminals.
Djalma de Azevedo Clemente, 11, was wearing a school uniform and was on her way to school when the bullet took her life.
According to the neighbors, the child was with his mother and another minor, who was shot through his backpack, but without causing injuries. It was at that moment that a patrol entered the street and Djalma, who was on the sidewalk, was injured.
Djalma’s mother, Adjalmira Azevedo, assures that the shot came from the weapons of the military policemen. “I was on my way to school and the police entered. When they entered, the shot hit my son. This is a pain that I do not wish on anyone, it is very sad,” she said.
The police force indicated that the agents were patrolling in the area when they were attacked by criminals and reacted.
