Time.news – Ukraine’s attempt to break through the Russian lines with the counteroffensive was unsuccessful. This was stated by the Russian president, Vladimir Putin, in a TV interview with Rossiya-1, anticipated on Telegram by the host Pavel Zarubin.

“All the enemy’s attempts to penetrate our defence, using its strategic reserves for this purpose, among other things, have not been successful. The enemy has failed,” said Putin, who positively judges the developments of the special military operation Russian:

“Our troops are behaving heroically. They are taking the offensive initiative in some sectors unexpected by the enemy” with positive results on the ground. When Zarubin asked Putin what the next targets of the ‘operation’ would be, the Russian leader replied with a joke: “I’ll tell you separately, with the cameras off”.

Russia, warned the Kremlin leader, “reserves the right to respond in the same way” if Ukraine uses the cluster bombs received from the United States. Moscow, he stressed, “has enough supplies”.

“We haven’t done it yet, we haven’t used them (cluster bombs; ed) despite the shortage of ammunition that we also sometimes suffered,” Putin said. “Of course though, if they use them against us, we reserve the right to respond in kind“.

Putin underlined how “the US administration itself describes the use of cluster bombs as a crime. I think it should be considered as such”. The supply of these bombs to Kiev depends, according to the Russian president, “on the general shortage of ammunition” of the Ukrainian troops.

The Pope: Ukraine suffers like Rome in 1943

L’Today’s Ukraine like the Rome of 19443: under the bombs killing civilians. The comparison was drawn today by the Pope Francis, at the Angelus. “I want to recall that 80 years ago, on July 19, 1943, some neighborhoods of Rome and in particular San Lorenzo were bombed and the Pope, the venerable Pius XII, wanted to go among his shocked people”, were his words.

“Unfortunately, even today these tragedies are repeating themselves. How is it possible? Have we lost our memory? May the Lord free the human family from the scourge of war. Let us pray in particular for the dear Ukrainian people, who are suffering so much”.
