Dozens of pilot whales have stranded on an island in northern Scotland. Helpers try to get the animals back into the sea. Many of the whales are said to have already perished.
The pilot whales stranded on the Isle of Lewis, which is part of the Outer Hebrides. Pilot whales are also known as pilot whales and belong to the dolphin family.
The BDMLR organization wrote that it is currently not known why the animals were stranded. However, pilot whales are known for their strong social bonds. “So if a pilot whale gets into trouble and strands, the others follow, causing more of them to strand.” The organization called for avoiding the area so as not to disturb the work of the helpers.
