Singer Étienne Daho had produced and composed the singer’s last album released in 2020. He deplores “unimaginable” news.
Étienne Daho is in mourning. The singer reacted on Instagram to the disappearance of Jane Birkin, found dead this Sunday at the age of 76, whose last album he had produced and composed “Oh! Pardon tu dormais…” released in 2020.
“Unimaginable to live in a world without your light”, he wrote in the caption of a snapshot of Jane Birkin in black and white.
Two duet pieces
This album, which took the title of a film and a play written by Jane Birkin more than 20 years ago, was designed with Étienne Daho. In addition, the singer accompanied him on two tracks.
“With him, there is a real engine. There is an essence of life in him, which gives everything a sensuality”, she confided at the time to BFMTV.
“He had the time, and the generosity to give two years, when he could have done things for him. And he had this desire for you to be recognized, a real ambition to put you forward. It’s exciting and stimulating to have someone more ambitious for you, than you, and who does not choose the easy way”, she told AFP at the time of the release of the album.

“Without him, I would never have made this album”, she confided to our microphone, praising the singer’s ability to have known how to make “glorious and magnificent, such sad things: separations, love at first sight that do not last not, things which without him would have stagnated in a sad melancholy”.
First a fan of the Briton, he becomes her close friend and helps her to give birth to this disc which tackles particularly intimate subjects.
In this album, the Franco-British evoked the carefree childhood of Charlotte Gainsbourg and Kate Berry and returned in particular with great modesty to the disappearance of her daughter Kate, who died in 2013.
