Incredible wave of solidarity: A donation collection by JUNGE FREIHEIT for the truck driver who arbitrarily cleared a climate blockade in Stralsund and therefore lost his driver’s license brought together almost 25,000 euros by Monday morning. The money is to be handed over to the driver and his lawyer in the coming days.
The case had caused a stir across Germany. A video showing the annoyed driver pushing the climate radicals off the road had gone viral on social networks. It also shows how one of the blockers tries to get back in front of the approaching truck in the blind spot of the driver’s cab, which was supposed to transport important medical gases to a Rostock hospital.
Even a truck driver can have a good lawyer
The driver was then pilloried by numerous left-wing politicians, although he had reported himself to the police. Of course, we reject violence in the dispute as a matter of principle. In Germany, however, the presumption of innocence applies. A truck driver also has the right to professional legal representation.
