What’s more, Griffiths states that they are going to “invest an additional 300 million euros to build these facilities, where the cells that PowerCo will manufacture at the Sagunto gigafactory, Valencia, will also be assembled. The plant will have an area of 64,000 square meters, equivalent to about 9 football fields, and will be connected to Workshop 10, where we will manufacture some of the electric cars of the Volkswagen Group, including the Cupra Raval. This will help optimize logistics processes and reduce the carbon footprint.” “The works will begin in the coming weeks and are scheduled to end in 2025,” he points out.

«These facilities are essential for our company and also represent a boost to obtain a second platform in Martorell. We are at a key moment for our industry. Seat and the Volkswagen Group are allocating large resources to achieve sustainable mobility. And to continue advancing in our ambition to turn Spain into a hub for electric mobility in Europe », he explains.

Likewise, it clarifies that “public-private collaboration is essential to accelerate the transformation, and in Spain some steps have already been taken in the right direction. For example, the government measure to deduct 15% of personal income tax for the purchase of electric vehicles, an initiative that must be accompanied by more investment to expand the charging infrastructure. Another good example is the Future: Fast Forward project that we announced a few months ago.”

«We are investing 10,000 million euros, the largest industrial investment in the history of Spain, to electrify the automotive industry, create thousands of jobs and maintain the country’s competitiveness. And I want to thank all the people who are working to make this possible: public administrations, unions and our employees and partners. Because, together, we are putting Spain on electric wheels », he concludes.
