UEFA announced, this Tuesday, the nine candidates for the finals of the 2026 and 2027 European competitions and Portugal is off the list.
Hungary, Italy, Germany, Norway, Scotland, Germany, Romania, Turkey, Israel and Switzerland are the countries interested in hosting the decisive matches of the various UEFA competitions: Men’s and Women’s Champions League, Europa League and Conference League. Final decisions will be known in May 2024 and interested parties have until July of this year to submit applications.
For the men’s Champions League, Budapest (Puskás Aréna) and Milan (San Siro) are, for now, the known candidates. In the women’s category, Germany (Gelsenkirche, Munich or Stuttgart), Norway (Ullevaal Stadion) and Scotland (Hampden Park) appear in pole position.
As for the Europa League, Germany (Düsseldorf, Frankfurt or Gelsenkirchen), Romania (National Arena), Scotland (Hampden Park) and Turkey (Istanbul, Besiktas stadiums, Fenerbahçe or Galatasaray) are the candidate countries.
Lastly, Germany (Leipzig Stadium), Israel (Teddy Stadium), Norway (Ullevaal Stadion), Scotland (Hampden Park), Switzerland (Stade de Genève) and Turkey (Istanbul, Besiktas, Fenerbahçe or Galatasaray stadiums) submitted applications to « headquarters» of the Conference League final.
