Anyway, I was going for something else anyway. Namely, that the good Lothar Franz von Schönborn didn’t ask long whether he could build another castle: he just did it, getting into almost as much debt as the German Minister of Economics would do if he were allowed to, and after his death his nephews had to sell the collection of paintings to pay the bills, which fortunately cannot happen to us because, thanks to our foreign and culture ministers, we not only give away the Benin bronze collections, but also transfer money afterwards. SIC TRANSIT GLORIA MVNDI, but at least the Schönborn castles remain. for now.
