SAG-AFTRA Grants Approval to 39 Independent Productions to Shoot During Actors Strike
In the midst of the ongoing actors strike, SAG-AFTRA has granted approval to 39 independent productions to continue shooting. These productions have been confirmed to have no affiliation with AMPTP companies, and will be bound retroactively to any contract terms that are eventually agreed upon with the AMPTP once the strike is settled.
Among the approved projects are two A24 films, “Mother Mary” and “Death of a Unicorn.” While the waiver has been granted, sources close to the studio have stated that shooting may not commence immediately, especially for “Death of a Unicorn,” which is still in the development stage. On the other hand, “Mother Mary” is expected to resume shooting in the near future.
Other productions that have been granted the SAG-AFTRA waiver include “Rivals of Amziah King” starring Matthew McConaughey, “Dust Bunny” starring Sigourney Weaver and Mads Mikkelsen, and “Bride Hard” starring Rebel Wilson.
