The Minister of Agriculture and Food Kiril Vatev discussed the possibilities for future cooperation and exchange of students, pupils and teachers with representatives of Dimitris Perotis American Agricultural College in Thessalonikiat a meeting in MZH.
Dr. Jeff Lansdale, president of the college, stated that the mission of the educational institution is to show young people that agriculture is a worthy and attractive profession, to teach them to work in a team and entrepreneurial skills, and during the training, the acquired knowledge is put into practice in the classroom.
“Bulgarian agricultural science is at the world level,” said Minister Vatev. He commented that training in agricultural high schools and universities should be practice-oriented, and it is important for young people to be fully familiar not only with the production process, but also with offering the product on the market.
The Minister of Agriculture introduced the guests to the specialties in Bulgarian universities and high schools, which train students and pupils in the field of agriculture and food, and noted that attracting young people to agricultural specialties is of key importance for improving the demographic situation in rural areas.
It was discussed in the future to organize familiarization visits for students, teachers and students, as well as participation in specialized agricultural exhibitions.
