A fiasco? The new campaign declaration of real estate for individuals is in any case far from being a success. At the end of June, only 61% of declarations have been filed and the tax administration expects 24 million more. The tax services are overloaded with requests and questions from taxpayers. The Solidaires-public finances union denounces a congestion of the centers and no less than 94,000 calls were recorded on June 16 via the national number. So much so that the General Directorate of Public Finance has decided to postpone the deadline for this declaration to July 31, “taking into account the influx of declarations at the end of the period”.

As a reminder, the housing tax has been abolished for all households since January 1, 2023, but continues to apply to second homes and other vacant premises. All owners must therefore declare online, for each of their properties, in what capacity they occupy them, but…
