A lot is being said about this. Especially for the press that lost a source of fresh information that was Mano Menezes.
Before talking about Coudet, a few last words about Mano:
I cursed the steering until I couldn’t here in BV on Monday. And I was nervous because Mano would not be fired and the elimination of Libertadores was imminent. Behold, Barcellos decided to create courage and did what he had to do, even with the risk involved.
And for the risk involved, I’m sad. Obviously, I don’t like to be without a coach a fortnight before an important game. And yes, I liked Mano. I criticized him like all of us in this period because 2023 was a fiasco on his part. But I ended last year very happy for the campaign he ran. I really wish Mano could have continued and we didn’t have to deal with this trauma.
Coaches have cycles and they end. There comes a time when everyone knows they have nothing else to do. Football is a sport where emotions count a lot and at some point the players stop running for the coach.
On the other hand, I’m happy. Happy for Coudet to come, because I think we have a chance at Libertadores. We have a good team and a coach whose game characteristics match our pieces. I believe that quickly he is capable of imposing the intensity we need for the 30 games that remain at the end of this year.
Many hate Coudet for abandoning us. As if never before had a coach left a club for another opportunity. Business as usual. And I am responding to the story that exists today. But none of our parochial press tried to ask him about this departure. Who knows what version of it appears in this passage?
The other BV columnists make fun of me because I’m supposed to be in love with Coudet. But I like him because he made our team play ball like it hasn’t played in a long time. The team was horrible and even so it was leader of the Brazilian. He went through two qualifiers in the pre-Libertadores and was in the quarter-finals of the Copa do Brasil. The team went in to win every game. I rectify: I am in love with Inter. So, someone who makes Inter play in a way that I think is good, beautiful and that makes us compete makes me happy. So that’s why I like Coudet.
I’m not in love with him, and I’ll criticize him if he’s as bad as Mano was in 2023. But at the moment I’m happy because the promise is better than the reality we had. And our parochial and decadent media that is going to carve a lot.
