It was an original and ambitious project that finally fizzled out. At the very beginning of 2022, Thomas Foissy, an entrepreneur from Marne, launched an innovative concept in France with the Unique Piece, a 1,000 m2 establishment equipped with a 1980s-style roller track, arcade games, an American-style bar (drinks, ice cream, cereals, milkshakes, etc.) and several shops (vintage second-hand clothes, vinyl records, retro games, world grocery store, etc.). Investment amount: 500,000 euros.

Initially, the concept attracted people with its originality, and curiosity brought people to Cormontreuil, the largest business area in the suburbs of Reims.

But with sixteen people recruited, a monthly rent of 12,000 euros and a large company to run, the expenses proved to be too high. The energy crisis also weighed on the balance sheet.

The brand continues to live in other cities

“That’s it, it’s over, wrote recently, on Facebook, Thomas Foissy. There will have been ups and downs, so to put it simply, thank you for all the ups that you have brought us and which allow us today to continue to develop the structure in other cities. Unfortunately for the stockings, this is also what allows us to evolve and move forward and above all not to repeat the same mistakes in future structures. »

Indeed, if the Unique Piece has closed its doors in Reims, the concept is not dead for all that. Available as a franchise, the brand continues to exist in the form of small downtown shops, as there are in Charleville, Rethel (Ardennes) and Épernay (Marne), or a larger establishment, such as that of Dijon (Côte-d’Or) which also has a roller disco track. The franchise would even seek to open in Lyon (Rhône) and Belfort (Territoire de Belfort).
