The data is based on railway traffic, measured as trains per kilometer, that is, use of the railway line by a train along one kilometer and the number of passengers, boarded and disembarked, at Adif and Adif AV stations.

By type of services, the most significant increase is observed in long-distance traffic with an increase of 33.2 percent, being even more accentuated in the Adif AV network, which grows 40.3 percent, and consolidates traffic above pre-pandemic levels. Nearby and interurban traffic in the period rose 4.5 percent.

By railway axes, in high-speed lines, the highest growth was that of the Madrid-Levante high-speed line with 81.8 percent, driven by the entry of new operators and more high-speed kilometers in service. Next are the lines Madrid-Barcelona (45.3 percent), Madrid-Andaluca (21.8) and Madrid-Valladolid León-Zamora-Galicia (18 percent).

In conventional lines, the increase in traffic on the Madrid-Alcázar-Córdoba-Sevilla-Cádiz line stands out at 8.7 percent, followed by the Venta de Baos-Lén-Orense-Vigo line at 2.5 percent. The number of passengers at the stations in the first half of the year increased 5.1 percent over the same period last year. In the stations owned by Adif AV, the growth achieved was 23.7 percent.
