Mouhamadou Fall finally prevailed. The 31-year-old French sprinter, who risked up to two years of suspension for three breaches of his whereabouts obligations, was released by the sanctions commission of the French anti-doping agency, the AFLD said on Thursday. This commission, independent of the AFLD, considered that the third breach alleged against the athlete was not admissible. The latter was thus to escape any sanction according to the body which confirmed information from the Team.

“We are happy and relieved, it is a very good precise decision, well motivated, which cannot be discussed”, reacted to AFP, Christophe Ayela, the lawyer for Mouhamadou Fall. “Such a decision compromises the effectiveness and the unannounced nature of the doping controls”, regrets, in a press release, the AFLD, which announced its intention to launch an appeal before the Council of State. Deploring this initiative, the triple French 100m champion believes, for his part, that the AFLD “continues to fight against him”.

After two breaches recorded in 2022, Mouhamadou Fall had been seen at Insep in June of the same year by an AFLD sampler who came to check another athlete, while he was located in the Adams application (software locating athletes on a daily basis) in the United States where he resides. Heard on July 4 by the Sanctions Committee, he asked for “the greatest indulgence”, pleading technical problems connecting to the Adams software for the first breach, and also having delayed recording his location data during the third breach.

“The succession of such shortcomings cannot be tolerated with regard to a top athlete,” added the AFLD. While continuing: “Almost a year from the Paris Games, while other athletes, including French, are sanctioned by other anti-doping organizations for similar facts, the exemplary nature of the French anti-doping system must be defended. »
