The giant African snail (Lissachatina fulica) is listed by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) as one of the 100 most dangerous invasive species.
As explained by the Canary Islands Invasive Species Detection and Intervention Network (REDEXOS), this snail can transmit a form of meningitisin addition to affecting crops and wild flora.
