Between the 20th of July and the 10th of August, registration is open for the first edition of the Top Model Unilab 2023, organized by the Uniculturas Project and its fashion and runway group – Unifashion. Entries can be made through from this link. Top Model UNILAB 2023 – an event that will take place at Unilab/CE – is aimed at the Unilab community with the aim of discovering new talents in the field of fashion, along with cultural presentations such as dance, music, theater and entertainment.
To take part in the contest, you just need to be a Unilab student and not have participated or are participating in any other Unilab fashion event. The registration of students participating in other fashion events is prohibited. If you are participating in another fashion event, it is up to the candidate to decide in which contest he/she will compete.
The main objective of the event is to integrate Unilab students into the world of fashion, discover young talents, offering them paths of knowledge in this area. In addition, it aims to encourage the deconstruction of what is considered a standard of beauty. On the other hand, as this is an event at an international university, we seek to highlight the appreciation of the cultures of all representations existing at Unilab.
Casting
After registration, the face-to-face and elimination casting will be held on August 19th. In September, the Presentation Gala of the candidates and the Jury will take place and, in October, the grand finale, in which the Unilab community will meet the male and female Unilab top model. The great news of this event is in terms of the public, since the community will be part of and will have an important role in choosing the Top Model Unilab 2023.

As for the prizes, the male and female top models will win a sum of money in the amount of 1,000 (one thousand reais) each, and other surprise prizes will be made available by the event’s partners. During the event, the other prizes will be announced. In addition, the winner will have the opportunity to be part of Unilab’s largest fashion and fashion show group, Unisfashion, and participate in various activities that will be organized by the group.
From the Uniculturas Project
The Uniculturas extension project: United for Integration, linked to the Dean of Extension, Art and Culture (Proex), coordinated by Professor Pedro Magrini, from the Institute of Applied Social Sciences – ICSA, was created by students of all nationalities present at Unilab, in 2017, as a result of the effort to recognize, value and disseminate the cultural diversity existing at the university, based on multiple artistic and cultural expressions mobilized by subjects from their context of origin.
The fundamental value that animates its actions is that of integration. Uniculturas is composed of “thematic groups” of African, Amerindian and Afro-Brazilian dances, theater, fashion, poetry, music and languages, which express themselves through workshops, courses, presentations and interventions located in various spaces, within Unilab and also in the surrounding communities, in schools that have partnered with the project, in municipalities of Maciço and in Fortaleza.
From the Unifashion Fashion and Show Group
Unifashion is a fashion and fashion group linked to the Uniculturas project. The group aims to represent the countries of Lusophone Africa, partners of the University of International Integration of Afro-Brazilian Lusofonia (Unilab), through African costumes and pieces, typical of these countries. The group was created in 2017, the same year the Uniculturas Project was founded. Currently, most of the first members followed a professional career as models, which highlights one of the important points in the creation and continuation of the group.
