The German Sports Betting Association (DSWV) sealed an agreement with the Federal Center for Health Education (BZgA) to fund a gambling advice hotline, which aims to prevent addiction and problem gambling.

From the association chaired by Mathias Dahms they highlighted that “the BZgA counseling hotline is an important component of the prevention of gambling addiction in Germany”. They added that it “is available free of charge to anyone who has a gambling problem or is concerned about a loved one.”

They warned that continuing the service into 2023 was in question due to a lack of state funding. However, they pointed out that the DSWV and other gaming associations have now secured funding for the current year through a cooperation agreement with the BZgA.

Together, the associations thus recognize their social responsibility and ensure that consumer protection in the gaming sector continues to function. It is in the best interest of providers to protect their customers from problem gambling. After all, the fun of the game is what unites us all”, they affirmed.

Finally, they indicated thatthe BZgA counseling team can be contacted anonymously and free of charge by calling 0800 1 37 27 00”, and that the attention in the office is carried out every day except for December 24 and 31.
