Time.news – “I sincerely thank the civil society organizations, the parties, the political forces and the public figures who have asked for my release and that of all the prisoners of opinion. I also thank the Government, the Italian Parliament, the Prime Minister and the Foreign Minister who supported me throughout the period of imprisonment and the trial just for having graduated from an Italian university, even though I am not an Italian citizen”. Patrick Zaki, who has just been released in Cairo, writes it on social media.

Zaki continues: “I am happy that the ordeal that started in February 2020 is over. I hope that the ordeal for all Egyptian prisoners ends soon and that this is the beginning of a breakthrough. I am very excited to return to Bologna for the first time in 4 years on a short visit for a few days to meet colleagues, professors and friends. Most of all I would like to have a short break with my lovely fiancée before returning to Egypt to finish preparing our home and wedding preparations next September. Today I went to the Italian embassy to ask for a visa. I should arrive in Bologna on Saturday morning. Thanks for your support and concern“.
