Iran summons the Swedish ambassador and informs him of its strong protest against insulting the Holy Quran

Baghdad / Obelisk Al-Hadath: The Iranian Foreign Ministry announced that it had summoned the Swedish ambassador and informed him of its strong protest against the Swedish government’s repeated permission to insult the Holy Quran.

On July 2, 2023, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian announced that his country would not send a new ambassador to Sweden, in protest against the burning of the Qur’an in front of a mosque in the Swedish capital, Stockholm.

While the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the Swedish Chargé d’Affairs to denounce what it described as an insult to the holiest Islamic sanctities, and demonstrations took place in the capital, Tehran, at the time, in protest against the Swedish authorities’ permission to burn a copy of the Noble Qur’an.
