Tragedy Strikes in Ahmedabad: 9 Killed in Car Accident
Ahmedabad was struck by tragedy on Wednesday night when a speeding car plowed into a crowd of people gathered at an accident site on the Sardar-Gandhinagar highway. The incident occurred near the ISKCON bridge and resulted in the death of 9 individuals, including 2 policemen who were present at the scene.
According to Deputy Transport Commissioner Neeta Desai, the accident initially involved two vehicles. Upon receiving information about the incident, two policemen arrived at the location to investigate. A crowd of onlookers had already gathered by that time. It was in the midst of this chaotic scene that a Jaguar car, traveling at high speed, lost control and collided with a tractor before plowing into the crowd.
In addition to the lives lost, 10 people sustained critical injuries and are currently receiving intensive treatment. Among the injured is Tatya Patel, the driver of the Jaguar car. Initial investigations have revealed that alcohol consumption was not a factor in the accident, indicating that the primary cause was speeding. A case has been registered with local authorities, who have pledged to take the necessary steps to ensure justice for the victims’ families.
