Walmart Introduces Walmart+ Assist Program to Support Customers on Government Assistance
Helping people save money and live better has always been Walmart’s mission. In line with this commitment, Walmart+ was launched in 2020, offering a membership that combines benefits with savings. This membership provides unparalleled access to everyday needs at an affordable price.
Walmart+ believes that everyone should have the opportunity to enjoy the time and money-saving benefits that come with a Walmart+ membership. These benefits include free shipping and grocery delivery, nationwide gas discounts, and video streaming with Paramount+ at no extra cost. To ensure that these benefits are accessible to all, Walmart is proud to introduce Walmart+ Assist.
Walmart+ Assist is a program designed to do exactly what it says – assist those who need it most. This program aims to make it easier and more accessible for customers on government assistance to become Walmart+ members and take advantage of the full suite of savings Walmart+ offers.
The Walmart+ Assist program is available to both new and existing members. Existing members who qualify for government assistance and sign up for Walmart+ Assist will receive a prorated refund and will immediately benefit from the new discounted price. To sign up for Walmart+ Assist, eligible customers can visit Walmart.com/Plus/Assist and verify their eligibility through SheerID. The new price for the Walmart+ Assist membership will be $6.47 per month or $49 per year.
Walmart has a history of innovating to support customers on government assistance. In 2019, Walmart was among the first retailers to participate in the USDA’s SNAP Online Purchase pilot program. This program allows customers to use their SNAP benefits to shop online, providing them with conveniences such as pickup and delivery. With the recent inclusion of Alaska in the program, Walmart is now the first retailer to accept SNAP benefits online in all 50 states.
