Former Indian cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni announced his retirement from Test cricket on the same day (December 30) in 2014. His decision came as a shock to the Indian team players and fans.
Indian all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin shares what Dhoni did the night he announced his retirement from Test cricket.
“I remember very well that day when Dhoni retired from Test cricket. I was batting with him in 2014 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground to prevent the team from losing. When the game was over he took the stumps and tied the walk. It was a very emotional moment for him. The trio of me, Raina and Ishant Sharma were in his room that evening. Dhoni wore the Test cricket team jersey that night. Then he shed a few tears, ”said Ashwin.
Dhoni, who has played in 90 Tests, has scored a total of 4,876 runs. This includes 6 percent and 33 percent. His batting average is 38.09.
