Hospital Luis Dávila de Tulcán received certification as a Mother and Child Friendly Establishment – ​​Ministry of Public Health

With the presence of José Ruales, Minister of Public Health, on July 21, the Tulcán Luis Gabriel Dávila Hospital of the Ministry of Public Health (MSP) received certification as a Mother’s Friend Establishment (ESAMyN), obtaining a score of 97.28% in the quality indicators for this nomination.

This certification, which is delivered through the Agency for Quality Assurance of Health Services and Prepaid Medicine (ACESS), has the objective of reducing maternal and neonatal mortality and morbidity, through comprehensive quality care for the mother and the newborn during the delivery process and, in addition, the support, protection and promotion of breastfeeding. In Tulcán in the last 3 years there have been no maternal deaths, stressed the Minister of Health.

This establishment during 2022 attended 991 deliveries in lithotomy position (lying down) and 43 in free position; while from January to June 2023 there is evidence of an increase in deliveries in free position (94).

The Tulcán hospital is the thirteenth nationally accredited hospital, thus achieving evidence of progress in the quality of care, the main objective being the reduction of maternal and neonatal morbidity and mortality with safe practices in favor of health.

Paola Bolaños, zonal director 1 of ACCES, after congratulating the institution, thanked the articulated work of all the health personnel who participated in the process, because thanks to them this important certification has been achieved, she pointed out.

With these actions, the Ministry of Health promotes the improvement and strengthening of the national health system through public policies that articulate programs aimed at serving women in gestation stages up to the first two years of age of the children of the population.
