Title: Giant Ovarian Cysts Discovered in Two Women, Highlighting the Importance of Regular Examinations

Date: July 21, 2021

Bueng Kan, Thailand – In a shocking medical discovery, doctors at Bueng Kan Hospital have successfully removed large ovarian cysts from two women, aged 50 and 65. The cysts found in their ovaries weighed a staggering 9 kilograms and 7.65 kilograms, respectively. This alarming development highlights the critical need for annual examinations to detect such potentially life-threatening conditions.

The first woman, aged 50, reported feelings of discomfort and a lump in her abdomen. Worried about the severity of her condition, she sought medical attention at Bueng Kan Hospital. An examination revealed a large cyst on her right ovary measuring about 24×34 centimeters. Due to the risk of cancer, doctors decided to remove the cyst along with the uterus, a procedure that lasted 1 hour 30 minutes.

In a similar case, a 65-year-old woman came in with abdominal pain and an enlarging belly that had persisted for a year. Opting to ignore her symptoms, she believed that her weight gain was the cause. However, when she started experiencing tightness in her abdomen, she decided to visit Bueng Kan Hospital for a check-up. An ultrasound and CT scan revealed a cyst on her left ovary, measuring approximately 27 centimeters. The medical team promptly removed the 7.65-kilogram cyst.

Doctors emphasize the importance of regular examinations, as small ovarian cysts generally do not exhibit any symptoms. However, as they grow, patients may experience discomfort and pressure on other organs, leading to issues such as frequent urination, flatulence, and abdominal pain. Furthermore, some types of ovarian cysts are associated with a higher risk of developing cancer.

Women aged 40 and over are particularly at risk for ovarian cysts, with factors such as obesity, infertility, and hereditary playing a role in their development. To ensure early detection and proper treatment, medical professionals strongly recommend that women in this age group undergo regular physical examinations, internal examinations, and annual ultrasound examinations.

This recent discovery of giant ovarian cysts serves as a stark reminder for women to prioritize their health and visit their healthcare providers regularly. Detecting these abnormalities at an early stage can significantly increase the chances of successful treatment and prevent any potential complications.
