The new wind turbine is offshore, that is, it is installed on the high seas, generating energy through the sea winds. The equipment is in the Taiwan Strait, off the east coast of China, close to the coast of Fujian province.

According to the news agency Xinhuawhich is controlled by the Chinese Communist Party, the new turbine was successfully connected to the country’s electricity grid on Wednesday 19th. The China Three Gorges Corporation is responsible for managing the wind farm.

With the new wind turbine, the Chinese government talks about stopping burning, annually, 22 tons of coal. In addition, the expectation is to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 54 thousand tons per year.

Measurements of China’s new wind turbine

China’s newest wind turbine capable of generating 16 megawatts of electricity has blades each 123 meters long. According to information from Xinhua, they can sweep an area of ​​approximately 50 thousand square meters. Namely, the size is equivalent to seven football fields.

The president of China Three Gorges Corporation, Lei Mingshan, defined that the newly installed equipment represents “an important advance in the essential technology of the industrial chain”. In addition, the executive believes that the facilities will serve to boost the sustainable development of the Fujian region.
