As he flies to Japan this Saturday for a summer tour as part of his preseason, PSG announced this Friday morning, in a press release, that he would take advantage of his presence in the archipelago to extend the pleasure of a few days by going to South Korea. This is the first time in its history that the club from the capital will go through the “Land of the Fresh Morning”.

A choice that obviously has nothing to do with chance. The club with 11 French championship titles has indeed recruited this summer – and until 2028 – the young midfielder Kang-in Lee (22 years old), “the first Korean footballer to wear the colors Rouge & Bleu”, specifies the club in a press release. The temptation was therefore too strong.

After an internship in Japan from July 22 to August 2 – where they will play three friendly matches in Osaka and Tokyo – Luis Enrique’s players will fly to South Korea. During this short stay – August 2 and 3 – Kylian Mbappé and his partners will meet Korean fans and face Korean vice-champions Jeonbuk Hyundai. A meeting scheduled for August 3 at 5 p.m. (local time, 10 a.m. in France) at the Busan Asiad Main Stadium, located in the city of Busan, as part of the Coupang Play Series.

A detour also made possible by the postponement, next January, of the Trophée des Champions. A duel which will oppose Paris Saint-Germain, winner of the championship, to Toulouse FC, winner of the Coupe de France, initially scheduled for August 5 in Bangkok.

“Ahead of the match, the Korean supporters of the Parisian club will be able to attend training open to the public on August 2 from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Busan stadium,” said the PSG press release.

A key country for the club

“We are very happy for the opportunity for the club to be able to meet our fans in South Korea, savors Sebastien Wasels, General Manager of Paris Saint-Germain in Asia-Pacific, in the press release. It’s a historic meeting for Paris Saint-Germain. We can’t wait for players to experience Korea’s passion for sports and football in particular. This will be an opportunity for the whole club to strengthen our ties with the country, where we are already present throughout the year through our Academy and our store in Seoul. The Parisian club has become in a few years an icon of pop culture, a taste that we share with all Koreans. »

Korea is a key country for Paris Saint-Germain. The club established an official store there, in partnership with Off The Pitch in July 2020 and welcomes more than 500 young people in the centers of its PSG Academy established in January 2022.
