San Salvador. The director of Civil Protection, Luis Alonso Amaya, confirmed that the 6.8 magnitude earthquake and the subsequent telluric movements have left no victims and the damage caused has been minimal.

But the Civil Protection system, which mobilizes hundreds of collaborators, remains alert and executes actions to guarantee the safety of the population, official sources said.

According to the Ministry of the Environment and Natural Resources, after the earthquake, from 6:22 pm yesterday, July 18, to 6:00 pm this Wednesday, July 19, 139 aftershocks have been registered; but only 40 of these have been sensitive with magnitudes ranging from 3.5 to 5.2.

The tremor caused various landslides in different places: Las Cañas river path, in Soyapango; La Isla community, in San Salvador; San Juan Talpa, San Juan Nonualco and Zacatecoluca, in La Paz; and in Izalco, Sonsonate.

On the Pan-American highway, jurisdiction of Nueva Granada, in Usulután, a rockfall was recorded; Same situation on the road that leads from San Miguel to Chirilagua.

In addition, it reported a damaged home in the El Arenal canton, in Ciudad Delgado; and in the Las Flores and La Cabaña hamlets, located in the Samurai and El Jutal cantons, in Jucuarán, Usulután.
