In his statement, Minister Thanarasu emphasized the importance of addressing frequent power outages and rectifying them promptly. He called for immediate action on public complaints and stressed the need for integrated power maintenance work during the upcoming North East Monsoon season. The minister highlighted that a total of 3.89 lakh works, including the replacement of 43,244 poles and the repair of power lines at 20,570 locations, should be carried out across the state.

To ensure a smooth transition during the name change process for electricity connections, a special camp will be held in all divisional offices of the Tamil Nadu Power Generation and Distribution Corporation. The camp will commence on July 24, 2023, and run for a duration of one month.

The Power Board is prepared to conduct these camps, which will cater to household electricity connection and public electricity connection holders. Beneficiaries are urged to take advantage of the camp to expedite their name change requests on the same day of payment to minimize inconvenience.

To facilitate this process, the Tamil Nadu Power Generation and Distribution Corporation has introduced an online application system. Applicants can now apply for a name change, upload the required documents, and make the necessary fees payment through the corporation’s website. However, recognizing the difficulties faced by the public, the special name change camps have been established to provide immediate assistance.

These camps will operate on all office working days, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, excluding Sundays and holidays. Citizens requiring a name change for their household or public electricity connections can submit the approved documents and pay a fixed fee of Rs. 726/- (Rs. 615+GST Rs. 111) at the divisional offices during the special camp.

Applicants have the option to apply either in person or online at the divisional office. The necessary documents and further information can be obtained from the Electricity Board.

The Tamil Nadu Electricity Board is committed to the welfare of the people and aims to eliminate the difficulties faced by the public during the name change process. This initiative is being carried out under the guidance of Chief Minister [Name], who has emphasized the need for prompt and efficient service.

With the organization of these special name change camps, the Electricity Board hopes to provide seamless power distribution while ensuring a hassle-free experience for consumers.
