The section “An artist, one day at the Festival Off d’Avignon” of July 21 met the actor Gregori Baquet who is currently playing in the show “Colorature, Mrs Jenkins and his pianist”, inspired by a true story.
The Avignon festival welcomes this year Gregori Baquet who plays in the show “Colorature, Mrs Jenkins and her pianist”. “It’s the story of a jazz pianist in the post-war 50s who tells how 20 years earlier he met a singer, totally crazy, a billionaire”, says the actor. The script of the show is based on a true story, inspired by Florence Foster Jenkins who was a billionaire and who, all her life, wanted to sing.
“A good fit of laughter”
But everyone dissuaded her from doing it. “When her husband died, when her parents died (…) she was no less than 65, she said to herself, that’s it, I’m going to make my dream come true, I’m going to sing opera”continues the actor.
