The entire world has been surprised by the rapid developments in artificial intelligence (AI) and governments such as the United States have warned that although it learns to perform many of the tasks that humans do, AI poses risks, and of course, it also has its limits.

Precisely the president of the United States, Joe Biden, warned of the “enormous” risk of AI in a meeting at the White House with the heads of the technological giants, who promised to protect themselves from cyberattacks, fraud and misinformation.

“It’s amazing,” said Biden, who stressed that there is a “huge, huge promise of AI, both in risk to our society and our economy and to our national security, but also incredible opportunity.”

For this reason, the companies agreed to develop “robust technical mechanisms”, such as watermarking systems, so that users know when content has been generated by AI and not by people.

It is clear that AI is characterized by imitating the way of thinking of the human being and even has its own field of study known as cognitive computing, based on pattern recognition and human language processing to try to simulate the brain.

The truth is that despite all this development, artificial intelligence finds it impossible to adopt at least four human traits that were collected by the BBC and that technological developments cannot transfer to machines.

1. They do not have the ability to apply ethics

One of the human aspects that artificial intelligence does not have is ethics, because it only follows a series of parameters pre-established by humans about what they should do and differentiates by itself a series of social norms defined as good.

This means that unlike humans, artificial intelligence cannot differentiate by itself what is right from what is wrong socially speaking, but it can be programmed to have a series of established rules.

For example, currently ChatGPT cannot provide access to the deep internet, also known as the deep web, nor can it disclose content considered sensitive, which means that for now it can be programmed to comply with a series of socially accepted rules.

2. It does not have voluntary generation capacity

Artificial intelligence does not have the ability to spontaneously generate actions of its own free will and is not driven by impulse to make decisions, as is the case with humans.

In the case of the human being, it is impossible to ignore the basic biological needs that usually generate impulses, as in the case of thirst, which leads us to look for liquid to satisfy that need without thinking too much about it, but the machine does not have impulses.

In this regard, the BBC reported that there is no artificial intelligence that generates knowledge or performs actions spontaneously as humans do, because they do not have that capacity.

3. Artificial intelligence has no intention to do things

The intention allows the human being to act moved by a genuine inner desire, which means that it is linked to the desire that motivates an action and not simply to its result or consequence.

This is a characteristic that artificial intelligence does not have, since it does not have a concept of ethics or morality, since it is in charge of carrying out a series of actions for which it was programmed, which leaves the intention to the programmer.

4. AI has no remorse like humans

After each action, the human being has the ability to look back and evaluate what he did, but artificial intelligence is in charge of fulfilling the tasks for which it was created without the need to conclude if they are right or wrong.

In this regard, the BBC pointed out that the AI has no remorse for its actions, which is a fundamental aspect of ethics and morality, nor does it suffer or feel pain. In addition, he has no opinion of his own because all his abilities are programmed by humans.
