Madurai – Members of the Othakadai Eversilver Utensils Manufacturers’ Association in Madurai staged a protest at the foothills of Yanimalai to condemn the recent riots in the state of Manipur. More than 200 people participated in the demonstration, led by association president Veera Ali, demanding an end to the violence and calling for action from the central government.

The protest, organized by the association, aimed to draw attention to the growing incidents of violence and unrest in Manipur. The participants expressed their anger and concern about the worsening situation in the state.

Among the demands put forward by the association was a call for a Supreme Court Chief Justice to conduct an inquiry into the sexual violence against women in Manipur. The protesters emphasized the need for the perpetrators of violence to be arrested and brought to justice.

Furthermore, the Othakadai Eversilver Utensils Manufacturers’ Association urged the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly to pass a resolution condemning the Manipur incident. They chanted slogans demanding accountability and action from the government in addressing the issues faced by the people of Manipur.

During the protest, a group of around 100 individuals climbed to the top of the nearby elephant hill. Law enforcement officials from the workshop police were able to negotiate with them, urging them to come down from the hill.

The protest by the utensil manufacturers highlights the concern and solidarity among various communities in Madurai towards the situation in Manipur. It emphasizes the urgent need for the central government and local authorities to address the grievances of the affected individuals and restore peace in the state.
